Following on from a number of requests from our previous students, we are pleased to be able to provide a combined course offering for those wanting to to fully immerse themselves in SRC Radio. 

This learning package includes:

• RYA SRC/VHF Online Course access (as pre-learning - approx 8hrs) +

• RYA SRC/VHF Classroom 1 day course +

• Optional SRC Exam on the same day as the classroom course*

The RYA VHF/SRC course and exam is for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio.

A marine radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board a boat and it is vital to understand the correct procedures to use this equiptment properly.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

Anyone wanting to commercially endorse an RYA/MCA Certificate of competence certificate requires an SRC licence as part of this application process. Similarly a number of boat clubs and charter companies require members to hold an SRC Licence in order to take charge/skipper one of their vessels.

Not all courses are born equal! We offer the very latest equipment, resources and support to keep you engaged.

• ICOM M330GE Training Radio Simulators - In 2023, and again in 2024, we invested in brand new ICOM M330GE training radios, taking our 'fleet' of radios us to 8 units. These radios are modelled on the real thing, meaning you get a realistic and fully immersive experience during your exam.

• Low Training Ratios - We operate on a 2 student to 1 radio ratio ratio as standard - giving you plenty of opportunity to practise and to work alongside a fellow crew mate as you work together to complete tasks and exercises.

• Scenarios - We incorporate scenarios into all of our SRC Courses making them more interactive and giving you the opportunity to practise in a realistic way.
