RYA Fast Track to Yachtmaster Theory - Online Course

This online course includes both theory and practical exercises using a variety of resources; Training Charts, Publications and equipement. The key topics covered include:

• Position fixing

• Course shaping and plotting

• Tidal knowledge

• Use of almanacs and admiralty publications

• Electronic position finding equipment

• Taking and interpreting forecast

• Plotting weather systems

• Weather predictions using a barometer

Each module is broken down into engaging lessons followed by knowledge checks. Students also have module assessments, which comprise official RYA exercise questions. All module assessments are reviewed by Ardent Training's qualified instructors, who provide personal feedback on the student’s progress.

Once all the coursework is completed, students are helped by the instructor team to determine if they're ready for the online RYA Yachtmaster Theory exam. 

The exam comprises three papers and can be taken at home. Examiner feedback is provided after completion.

There are no additional exam fees unless it needs to be invigilated for commercial MCA purposes*. The instructor team are committed to coaching every student to a passing standard.

After completing the online RYA Yachtmaster Theory qualification, students gain the knowledge to navigate a motor or sail boat in day or night, and in challenging coastal and offshore environments.

Students earn the RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. To receive the full RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster qualification, students must complete a practical course or exam at a practical centre of their choice.

This includes access to your course for 12 months from date of enrolment.

2) Comprehensive Training Pack Sent out within 48hrs containing:

• Publications: RYA Training Charts, RYA Northern Hemisphere Training Almanac, Yachtmaster Shorebased Notes, Yachtmaster Exercises and Course Information, RYA Electronic Navigation Resources, RYA Weather Booklet, as well as a selection of Ardent Training Pro-forma docuemnts to support with various exercises.

• Stationary: Soft Eraser and 2B Mechanical Pencil for precision plotting

• Equipment: Dividers, Portland Plotter and rope for knot tieing practise!

3) Live support from the Ardent Training Team, via the chat window, email, phone, or your preferred method between 0800 and 2000 (UK time) 364 days a year - meaning you can access support when ever you need it.

4) A certificate posted out to you on succesful completion of your course exam.
